Diamond Valley Final Results

The California Bass Championship held its second of sixteen local qualifiers on 1/29/2010 at Diamond Valley lake. 43 boats signed up for the event but, only 37 were able to fish due to quagga muscle inspection issues.

"Diamond Valley is one of the best lakes in the state and we expected some big bags", stated Tom Leogrande tournament director for the CBC. "The bite was tough but, the top 10 all boated over 13 pounds of bass for their 5 fish limits."

The streaming of the the weigh in live online ran into some connection issues as Diamond Valley has little to no broadband and cell phone connection from their parking lot. However, the event went off without a hitch and the CBC would like to thank the staff at Diamond Valley including David Nietshke and Tammy. "The staff at DV were a delight to work with. They were helpful, courteous and overall a great help in making this event set up and completion a breeze", commented Tom Leogrande.

The DFG had Quinn Granfors on hand as well. Quinn is the biologist for most of the Southern California area. Quinn has been instrumental in helping the CBC utilize the best fish weighing system for the fish. Quinn was excited about the CBC's use of the mesh bags and the drive through weigh in. The fish are out of water for less than a minute to get weighed. Although, there were some anglers bringing their fish back to the release boat without water - overall the fish were treated fantastically. Anglers everywhere be sure to keep your fish in plenty of water at all times, whether at a CBC event or any event. Imagine how you'd feel on a trip down the ramp if you had to hold your breath the whole way!

The CBC would also like to thank Joe Uribe Sr. for taking the time to needle all the fish that were caught deep. Joe, as well as being a great angler, is one of the best fish deflator's anywhere and his help at the DV event had to save the life of many of the deep water bass that were caught.

The anglers reported tough fishing but, it still took 13 pounds to make the top ten. Fish were reportedly caught all throughout the day from Top Water to 50 and 60 feet deep. Without further ado - here are the final standings for Diamond Valley Lake.
