The California State Championship tournament is a multi-level tournament that allows you to fish for $280 and fish for a grand prize of $15,000. Modeled after golf's U.S. Open this event offers anglers a unique way to fish at moderate expense and still fish for big bucks. The tournament consist of two phases; a local, and the state championship. There is a one time annual membership required to California Bass Championship. Memberships are $25 annually per angler. Each member will receive a California Bass Championship a Flex-Fit hat and a T-shirt (at their first event) and a $15 gift card (for a purchase of over $100) to MonsterFishingTackle.com. This is well over the a $25 value of the membership.

Phase 1: Local
For the inaugural team tournament every team must start at the local level and pay the $280 entry fee to get into the event. There are 8 local events to choose from. Teams need to finish in the top 6 of one local event to qualify for the regional event. The local events will have a maximum of 30 teams. The top 6 at the local event do not win cash or prizes, they simply qualify for the championship event. An angler may attempt to qualify at more than one local event. Team member's cannot qualify more than 1 time for the championship event.
All local events are 1 day events held on local lakes throughout the state of California .

The first 30 to sign up will be the 30 that fish the event.
Due to anglers mis-using the withdrawal process - The following rules have changed
1. There will be no refunds within 2 weeks of the event
2. There will be no deposits accepted - only full payments.
Phase 2:
The championship will consist of 50 teams, 6 qualifiers from each from the four regions and 2 wildcards. Wildcards are the two closest teams to making the top 6 in their local event as determined by weight difference between the 6th place finisher and the 7th place finishers in each local event. There are no additional entry fees for the championship event. The Championship event will be held on a lake to be announced in January 2011 for year one and will move to a new region each year.

Each team member must have a CBC Membership. CBC Memberships are good for the calendar year. If you are a member from the individual championship your membership is good for the team event (including the championship) but, not good for next years (2011) individual championship starting in January.
The championship is a two day event and the payback is as follows. Payback is 1 in 2 at the state championship.
